چکیده

Sodium titanate nanobelt was synthesized by treating titanium dioxide hydrothermally in concentrated sodium hydroxide solution. The product was characterized by SEM analysis and zeta potential measurements. It served as a microparticle to constitute a microparticle retention system with cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM), while the microparticle system was employed to induce the flocculation of kaolin clay. The flocculation behavior of kaolin clay in such a system was investigated by using a photometric dispersion analyzer connected with a dynamic drainage jar. It was found that the sodium titanate nanobelt carried negative charges and had a more negative zeta potential at higher pH. It gave a large synergistic flocculation effect with CPAM at a very low dosage, and showed higher flocculation effect with CPAM under neutral and weak alkaline conditions. A suitably high shear level was helpful for the reflocculation of clay by sodium titanate nanobelt. The clay flocculation induced by the CPAM/titanate nanobelt system demonstrated high shear resistance and also generated dense flocs.

Oxygen vacancy migration/diffusion induced synaptic plasticity in a single titanate nanobelt.

Neuromorphic computational systems that emulate biological synapses in the human brain are fundamental in the development of artificial intelligence protocols beyond the standard von Neumann architecture. Such systems require new types of building blocks, such as memristors that access a quasi-continuous and wide range of conductive states, which is still an obstacle for the realization of high...

The structure of titanate nanobelts used as seeds for the nucleation of hydroxyapatite at the surface of titanium implants.

The sequence of steps of a chemical treatment having as its goal the induce of nucleation and the growth of hydroxyl carbonated apatite (HCA) at the surface of titanium implants was studied by scanning and transmission electron microscopy in cross-section. In the first step, an acid etching forms a rough titanium hydride layer, which remains unchanged after subsequent treatments. In the second ...

Multifunctional flexible free-standing titanate nanobelt membranes as efficient sorbents for the removal of radioactive 90Sr2+ and 137Cs+ ions and oils

For the increasing attention focused on saving endangered environments, there is a growing need for developing membrane materials able to perform complex functions such as removing radioactive pollutants and oil spills from water. A major challenge is the scalable fabrication of membranes with good mechanical and thermal stability, superior resistance to radiation, and excellent recyclability. ...

LOW TECHNOLOGY WATER PU^lWMdJf^Y BENTONITE CLAY AND MORINGA OLEIFERA SEED FLOCCULATION AS PERFORMED IN SUDANESE VILLAGES: EFFECTS ON SCHISTOSOMA MANSONI CERCARIAE

Schistosoma mansoni cercariae were removed from clear and turbid water by flocculation with Sudanese bentonite clays, with Moringa oleifera seeds as well as with pure bentonite. The flocculation technique employed corresponds to that used to clarify Nile water in Sudanese villages. Moringa seeds, pure bentonite and one type of bentonite clay were able to reduce the number of cercariae by more t...

Precipitation Reaction of SDS and Potassium Salts in Flocculation of a Micronized Megestrol Acetate Suspension

In this work attempts were made to evaluate K+-SDS and hydrocolloid polymer-SDS interactions in flocculation of megestrol acetate dispersions to enhancetheir stability as a part of suspension formulation. Different dispersions of micronized megestrol acetate and SDS were prepared. KCl and KH2PO4 and their corresponding sodium salts were added to the dispersions and the preparations were evaluat...
